Our benches are made out of 2X Western Red Cedar*. They are assembled with Stainless Steel fasteners and high quality outdoor glues. We use traditional woodworking joinery including dovetail and mortise and tenon.
The chairs and benches are made a little large on purpose to hold a child or grandchild too. Our latest seat design (as of May 23rd 2009) has a slight slope so the back rests more against the seat back. This will be incorporated into all our benches and chairs from now on.
The handrails and seats are contoured. The benches, chairs and loveseats are hand assembled and sanded ready for finishing.
Following are options which are standard but can be deleted if not desired:
Cup holders.
Choice of existing 3D models for the backs. See here for some examples of 3D. Or, if you prefer 2D designs which may be better to rest your back against as in the chair and bench with table. See here for some examples of 2D.
Choice of front frill V carvings or V text. See here for some examples of V carvings.
Custom options:
Custom 3D logo's or artwork - work done using CAD software. We will print or email you the designs for approval before any carving is done.
Finishing:
Due to the many individual decor situations we do not normally apply a finish and let the purchaser do this. If left out unfinished in direct sunlight these benches will fade to a silver tint and will develop more cracks (finishing is highly recommended). If a stain is applied it will need to be applied more often in direct sunlight (at least once a year). If the benches are left in the shade or out of the elements the finishes seem to hold up better. We currently are experimenting with Sikkens products for finishing.

Guarantee:
If they are finished by us all benches and chairs are guaranteed for one year for defects under normal circumstances. If left unfinished we cannot guarantee against splitting and cracking.
Build time:
Each unit takes approximately 2 weeks to build. If painting is desired it takes a little longer due to dry times between coats.

Payment:
